Mole National Park tour (Fly & drive option) – 2 nights/3 days

This tour gives you the option of an hour long flight from Accra to Tamale plus a 2 and a half hour drive to Mole National Park. This cuts out the long drive from Accra. It also gives you the opportunity to have a longer period the the park to view game. You will also take a brief tour of Tamale, capital of the Northern Region.

Day 1:    Accra – Tamale – Mole

Depart early to the airport for a domestic flight to Tamale. Arrive and you will be transferred from Tamale to the Mole National Park. Mole is 4840 square km of rolling landscape with pristine guinea savannah vegetation. The Mole National Park is Ghana’s most important park for game viewing and is home to about 90 (ninety) different species of animals including elephants, antelopes, waterbucks and warthogs among others. Join the guide for a late afternoon trek to view West Africa’s big game: the elephant. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to view animals with the Park Guide. Overnight at Mole. (D)

Day 2:    Full day at Mole

Early this morning before breakfast, join the park guide for a trek to view the animals. Return to your hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, depart Mole through the ancient villages of Damongo and visit Mognori Eco-Village. Take a tour of this village and witness the process of making shea butter, the major occupation of the women. You will also take a canoe safari down the river where you will view different species of birds. After which,  visit Larabanga and the historic mosque which the locals claim was built by the spirits of the ancestors and the mystery stone which the locals claim always came back even when it was moved by heavy construction machinery. Return to Mole and you will have a third chance in the late afternoon for another trek. Overnight in Mole. (B & D)

Day 3:    Mole – Tamale – Accra

After breakfast, depart Mole back to Tamale. Take a brief tour of the central market, the Centre for National Culture and the Zongo leather works where you will find bags, shoes etc made from animal skin and smocks unique to the northern parts of Ghana. Check in at the airport for a return flight back to Accra. Arrive in Accra late afternoon. (B)
